A trial to provide compostable bags and a dog waste pick up service to a compost contractor has resulted in a permanent arrangement at two dog parks in an Adelaide foothills council (Tea Tree Gully Council).
The trial showed council staff they could remove 94,000 plastic bags and 8 tonnes of waste from landfill each year at a cost of just $760 a year. This data helped the project get a green light to continue.
